On Saturday, November 12th, DEEBO will be holding its inaugural event, FAM Fest, at Tokitoba, a fantastic outdoor event space located along Himeji’s main drag. The event will feature local food, live art, and live music.
On the day of the event, just follow your nose and you’ll smell the deliciousness and fun that awaits you!
Most people only know Himeji for Himeji Castle or Mt. Shosha, where the movie The Last Samurai was filmed. Himeji Castle, situated right in the centre of the city, is spectacular and definitely worth a visit, but there are so many other great things to do here!
As such, our goal here at DEEBO is to really put Himeji on the map and to encourage more people to visit here and perhaps even call it home. So come and explore all the wonderful things Himeji and the surrounding regions have to offer.
Both Himeji and Hyogo prefecture as a whole has been growing and changing at a rapid pace over the last 5 – 10 years and there are so many amazing businesses popping up and so many exciting things happening. This is just the first of many events we aim to hold throughout Japan to help showcase and promote local talent, businesses, musicians, DJs, artists, bars, restaurants, charities, and much, much more.
DEEBO is short for “deep bonds”, which are what we aspire to create with our clients, colleagues, friends, families, and community. In addition to providing digital marketing services to many of the wonderful businesses and entrepreneurs that are doing such amazing work across Japan, we also hope to be a company that fosters people’s talents, skills, and passions.
FAM Fest will be open to anyone and everyone, and entry is free! So come be a part of the warm, welcoming, and enjoyable atmosphere and share your inspirations and passions with your fellow Himejians!
In the spirit of promoting Himeji’s great people, awesome businesses, delicious food, creative artists, and amazing musicians, we will be featuring:
- Seven local DJs: ANDY, DEANO, Masaki, m/m, Rui, Staff48, and 1000k.
- Kids band HanaHajime & The Crazy dogs
- Live guitar performances by Piku & Soleil Yoshi
Local businesses participating in this event include:
- Casa de Sarasa – delicious Mexican food and tacos.
- E.A.T Store cafe – will be providing awesome fresh-cooked pizzas
- Dining Muu – will provide quality scrumptious Japanese food.
- Himeji Hatoya Brewing – awesome craft beers made in Himeji!
To get everyone’s mouths watering, team DEEBO will also be spit-roasting lamb using a traditional Australian family recipe. The delicious scent will surely beckon people for kilometers around!
We will be featuring art from local artist, DAI ROCKIN SHIRO, whose uniquely creative sculptures, made mostly from recycled materials, are truly a sight to behold!
Another local artist, YOUKI, will be live-painting two canvases throughout the event that will be auctioned off upon completion. Youki’s live creations will add an element of interactivity that everyone can enjoy!
20% of donations towards this event, and 20% of proceeds from the sale of artwork will go directly to Good Neighbors Japan (GNJP) to help kids in poverty in Japan and emergency relief efforts in Ukraine.
Good Neighbors International is active in more than 40 countries in Asia and Africa. GNJP supports people in India, Cambodia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Chad, and Mozambique.
In addition, they are independently working on the problem of child poverty in Japan.
Good Neighbors International is an international NGO established in 1991 for the purpose of providing humanitarian and development assistance to people around the world who are suffering from natural disasters, hunger, and conflicts. In 2020, Good Neighbors International implemented support projects worth 160 million dollars.
There will also be arts & crafts available for purchase, including the stylish wax creations of Rupa Candles, as well some fantastic new children’s books from local entrepreneur, Tim Morcom.
Last, but certainly not least, we will be throwing a late-night after-party at CEBU, one of Himeji’s up-and-coming night spots, which has a wide selection of drinks and a 90-minute all-you-can-drink option. From darts and skateboarding to mini pool and karaoke, Cebu has a little something for everyone! House DJs MR. JUN and TMDF will keep the beats and the party going until the sun comes up!

- When you get off the train at Himeji Station, walk straight up the main street of Otemaedori towards Himeji Castle. You will find Tokitoba on the right-hand side about 500 meters from the station.
